There are mice in Mrs A's office YUCK! but we caught one this morning! Yeah!!  We used the Inventions Thinking Key to invent some self emptying mouse traps.  Here are a few of our inventions.

WHITE HAT The Facts	Write 3 facts from the story.  Think about the characters and the setting. Maui found his father and grandfather. Maui didn’t give his grandfather his food. His grandfather gave Maui his magic jawbone. Forge
YELLOW HAT The Strengths	What were the good things or strengths that a character did or showed in the story? When Maui found out it was his dad. Crystal, Maraea & VJ
BLACK HAT The Weaknesses/Negatives	What were some of the weaknesses or bad things that a character did or had happened to them? Maui took his grandfathers’ jaw bone. Maui starved his grandfather Ashleigh, Juan & Jessie
GREEN HAT New Ideas	Write a new ending for the story. After Maui found his father, he lived in the underworld with him for ever after. Cassidy
Red hat Feelings/Emotions	How did the story make you feel? List the characters and write how you felt about each one. Danielle felt happy because Maui found his dad.  Cassidy felt sad because his Dad threw a rock at Maui.
Blue hat Thinking	Was the author trying to give a message in the story? How did they keep you reading the story? How Maui found his father was the message.  Jonathon, Maia & Nataliah

Willy Wonker's Factory?

What do you think happened to this weird, wonky buidling?

Cassidy - There was an earthquake.
Nau - The wind blew so hard it wobbled the building. It was pushed over by a big giant frog!
Nahum - It was made out of chocolate and it melted in the sun!
Charlotte - There was a tornado.
Shakana - There was jelly in the house and it was wobbling around.
Meagan - A big jelly bear has been pushed over and landed on the house.
Ashleigh - Willy Wonker didn't want a straight house so he built a wonky one!

Hands On Homework

Each week I'll put an idea up for a practical homework activity you could try at home with a family member, a friend or even your next-door neighbour! This week you could do some baking. I would LOVE to judge it on Friday! You could take a photo of your baking and we can add it to our blog. HAPPY BAKING EVERYONE! :)
