The Argentinian Visit!
P | M | I |
· They signed our flags and t-shirts · We got to meet them · We had our photo taken · We got free flags and autograph cards · We presented them with a gift · They gave our school 2 signed rugby shirts · We will be on tv because ESPN tv was here filming it · We had a lot of fun · They taught us how to say hello and goodbye in Spanish · They stayed at our school until first lunch · We got to welcome them – powhiri | · They couldn’t stay very long in each classroom · They made lots of changes and we didn’t get any Subway · We didn’t get to play any rugby with them · They came too earlier, it would have been better having them at lunch time | · We got to meet some of the team members and were a lucky school to do so · They spoke a different language · They were very tall and made Mrs A look very short! · They asked us how to say goodbye in Maori and then they used it in every classroom · It was exciting when they came into the hall and when the boys did the haka |

Gala Day
We sold pet rocks, ice cream sodas, bookmarks and play dough at our school gala. It was spectacular! We raised $6000 which will go towards camp, a big day out and the junior trips. The best part was selling the ice cream sodas - they were yum and sold out really fast!! Mrs A couldn't scoop fast enough and had to keep up with VJ and Kastel's pouring!! Well done boys, you were fantastic helpers!
Forge said - "the Samoan food was soooooo nice!"
Nau reckoned - "the curry was very spicy and my Mum told me I had to eat it all!"
Isaiah - "The toffee apples were really nice"
Charlotte - "I liked the bouncy castle - it was fantastic"
Meagan - "Mr T drunk a spider drink - he drank it so fast he choked on his ice cream!!" Poor Mr T was coughing a lot but he was ok.
Mr T and Mrs Haydock were amazing. They helped to sort out heaps of things. Mr T made many trips to the supermarket for us and we are very grateful for all their help. You guys ROCK!!

HANDS ON HOMEWORK - WEEK 2 Term 3
HOW FAST CAN YOU TYPE? CAN YOU BEAT MY SCORE?
65 words
I found this online typing test and thought it would be a good idea to see if you know where all the letters are on the keyboard. Give it a go!
I hope you've all had a good weekend. See you on Monday.

How's the holidays?
Hi Team, I hope you are enjoying the holidays. It's been a bit cold hasn't it! Troy and I have been watching Team Umizoomi by the heater!! I have started organising our work for Term 3 and we will be having a big focus on the Rugby World Cup so to give you a heads up we will be looking at the countries that are involved. I have added some new games links to our blog and some information websites that we will be accessing at school to find some facts about different countries.
I got emailed some awesome photos with the moon and thought we could have a bit of a photo competition for our first weeks 'Hands on Homework' activity. If you don't have a camera you could use our class one at school during the day. I'll load the photos during the week.
Take care everyone - only one week to go, make the most of it team!

What's happened?
What do you think the dog is seeing out the window?
There is a bone outside and the dog wants to get it before another dog does. - Ashleigh
Another car is going to crash into them! - VJ
They are about to jump over a monster truck! - Isaiah

She is doing a fast and furious race! - Nahum
There is another bulldog outside the car that wants to get the dog - Jonathon
There is a gorilla coming towards the car! - Isaiah
They are going to do a big drift around the corner! - Nahum
Should old people drive? What could happen?
White Hat - they shouldn't drive because they could crash, they might not see very well, - Cassidy, Crystal, Jessie & Maraea
Blue Hat - old people could use these things instead of driving - a motorised wheel chair, they could stand on a skateboard and someone could push them - Shakana, Maia, Ashleigh & Charlotte
Yellow Hat - if old people weren't allowed to drive the positives would be: they wouldn't slow traffic down, there would be less crashes.
Green Hat - new ways of transportation for old people - stand on a skateboard and the dog could pull it - Jonathon, Kingston, Ofa & Navuga
Black Hat - cars behind them might crash into them because they are going too slow, when old people walk across the road a car might run them over because they walk slow, - Danielle, Nataliah & Azalea
Red Hat - how they might feel if we take their license off them - Danielle said sad because they still want to drive, Maia said upset, Shakana - terrified, Cassidy - upset because if they are in a hurry they find how to get there, Isaiah - happy because they won't crash.

Check out our thinking about How Maui found his Father and the Magic Jawbone!
WHITE HAT The Facts | Write 3 facts from the story. Think about the characters and the setting. Maui found his father and grandfather. Maui didn’t give his grandfather his food. His grandfather gave Maui his magic jawbone. Forge |
YELLOW HAT The Strengths | What were the good things or strengths that a character did or showed in the story? When Maui found out it was his dad. Crystal, Maraea & VJ |
BLACK HAT The Weaknesses/Negatives | What were some of the weaknesses or bad things that a character did or had happened to them? Maui took his grandfathers’ jaw bone. Maui starved his grandfather Ashleigh, Juan & Jessie |
GREEN HAT New Ideas | Write a new ending for the story. After Maui found his father, he lived in the underworld with him for ever after. Cassidy |
Red hat Feelings/Emotions | How did the story make you feel? List the characters and write how you felt about each one. Danielle felt happy because Maui found his dad. Cassidy felt sad because his Dad threw a rock at Maui. |
Blue hat Thinking | Was the author trying to give a message in the story? How did they keep you reading the story? How Maui found his father was the message. Jonathon, Maia & Nataliah |

Willy Wonker's Factory?
What do you think happened to this weird, wonky buidling?
Cassidy - There was an earthquake.
Nau - The wind blew so hard it wobbled the building. It was pushed over by a big giant frog!
Nahum - It was made out of chocolate and it melted in the sun!
Charlotte - There was a tornado.
Shakana - There was jelly in the house and it was wobbling around.
Meagan - A big jelly bear has been pushed over and landed on the house.
Ashleigh - Willy Wonker didn't want a straight house so he built a wonky one!

Each week I'll put an idea up for a practical homework activity you could try at home with a family member, a friend or even your next-door neighbour! This week you could do some baking. I would LOVE to judge it on Friday! You could take a photo of your baking and we can add it to our blog. HAPPY BAKING EVERYONE! :)
